Original Paintings

Each mixed media painting goes through an eight step process from start to finish.
Canvases or wood blocks are handmade or are from recycled sources.
It is an accumulation of layers that gives each piece its great depth and detail.
Each unique piece of artwork is painted with a mix of colored pencil, crayon,
oil pastel, and then embellished with authentic beautiful vintage papers, ephemera,
and some found object thrown in for good measure.

(a note about beeswax)
Some of the pieces shown below are finished with a layer of beeswax.
If you already know how wonderful beeswax is, read no further.
The beexwax process that I use adds yet another layer of texture and dimension to the piece.
Beeswax adds a soft translucent mellowness to my work that is not always visible from photographs.
The wonderful patina that beeswax provides gives each piece depth, character, and a wonderful unique appearance.
